I Can't Believe It's Vegan-image

Take a break from the turkey, mashed potatoes, and other recipes associated with the season and try a taste of something a little greener. In today’s Arrive North Shore Blog post, we hope to fill your cravings with a few recipes you wouldn’t even know were vegan had we not told you. Enjoy! Panang Curry There are not many meals that pack as powerful of flavor as homemade curry. The rich and flavorful combination of the coconut milk, cinnamon, and lime juice on top of a “mock meat” is a pleasurable dining experience for everyone. Vegan BLT with Tofu Bacon Before you run away from the idea of tofu bacon on your sandwich, we recommend that you don’t turn this recipe down. The “bacon” tastes great and ties the sandwich together with a nice salty flavor. This recipe is quick to throw together, making it a great go-to treat any day.   Easy Cheezy Pizza This is a vegan take on a classic dish. It tastes amazing! Golden crust, cashew cheese, and marinara sauce — what’s not to like? Pasta Carbonara You might be surprised how wonderful a bite is into this vegan approach to a pasta classic. You might even prefer it to the original recipe. Enjoy each bite of gluten-free penne pasta, a sauce made with cashew butter and almond milk, and tempeh bacon. Vegan Lemon Raspberry “Cheese” Cake Almonds, coconut flakes, cashews, lemon juice, honey, frozen raspberries, and apple cider are a few of the ingredients in this flavorful dessert. Your guests are sure to love this. Who knew that cheesecake could be this tasty or healthy? We sure didn’t. Tiramisu Enjoy a cake made from raw almonds, pecans, and cashews, and a delicious layer of cream made with coconut milk, cashews, lemon juice, and fresh vanilla bean. The end result looks incredible and is equally delicious. We hope that you enjoy making and eating these delicious treats in your Highwood, IL apartment! What is your favorite healthy meal to make? Being a resident of Arrive North Shore in Highwood, IL means that you enjoy the ability to have a pet at your home should you wish. If you don’t already have a pet and are thinking of getting one, a quick Google search reveals information about what breeds do/do not do well in an apartment setting. If you already have a pet, here are some tips for being a great pet-owning neighbor. Vaccinations. Make sure you are up to date on your pet’s vaccinations and parasite preventatives. Responsible pet owners make a point of cleaning up after their pet. If you are having issues with litter boxes, this article may be helpful: Preventing Litter Box Problems . Take an extra cleanup bag with you when you are out for a walk with your dog, just in case you encounter someone who needs one. Exercise and Socialization. Provide plenty of opportunities for your pet to get enough exercise and socialization. All dogs, no matter what size they are, need exercise to remain healthy and happy. Daily walks are a good habit — just make sure to include regular romps at a dog park as well for more vigorous exercise. Providing a cat tree for your cat can also help promote exercise. Pet Care. If you must be gone for long days, consider hiring a dog walker or taking your pet to daycare. Pets need to have social interaction for their mental and physical well-being. Barking. A quick way to alienate your neighbors is by having a dog that won’t stop barking. If this problem begins to develop, address it quickly to keep the peace. Redditors Offer Cooking Advice-image

Welcome back to our Arrive North Shore Blog! As we mentioned last month, Reddit is a website where people can post content such as links, text posts, and images, which people can comment and vote on. The more popular the comments in the post, the more points they receive. This month, we decided to find out what Redditors have to share regarding cooking advice. Here are just a few of the many best cooking tips users of Reddit have to share. Apply them the next time you cook in your Highwood, IL apartment. Butter makes everything better. It's always easier to add something later than remove too much. This goes for salt, liquids, and pretty much every ingredient. Learn how to hold a chef's knife properly . You can shred chicken using a hand mixer. When making grilled cheese, don't attempt to spread butter on a piece of un-toasted bread. Instead, melt the butter in the pan and then put the bread in for a perfectly even, zero-effort coating. Stop putting oil in your pasta cooking water. Rather than scooping, spoon the flour into the measuring cup and level it off. If you scoop you'll pack it down too much and use more than you need, which could mess with the texture of the finished product. For the cost of a couple tablespoons of a few common items (soy sauce, garlic, honey, ginger) you can make a tasty marinade that any type of meat or fish benefits from. If you put some of the marinade off to the side you can use it as a sauce to flavor the rest of the meal as well. One clove of garlic is one segment of the garlic. The whole thing is called a bulb. The Best Advice on Reddit-image

Welcome back to the Arrive North Shore Blog! Today, we’re embracing the summer season with advice from the online community. Summer is a busy season and it’s finally here. While we can’t wait to dive into all the fun that accompanies these next few months, it’s important to slow down and apply some sage advice from the Reddit community. Let’s see what advice we can apply from users of Reddit . If you don’t already know, Reddit is a website where people can post content such as links, text posts, and images, which people can comment and vote on. The more popular the comments in the post, the more points they receive. We found a great Reddit thread titled, “What is the best piece of advice to give to [an 18-year-old]?” Even if you’re not 18, the advice we found on this thread is valuable for everyone. Enjoy! It’s okay to admit when you’ve made a mistake. Never be afraid to ask a question for fear of looking dumb. Do what you like to do, speak your mind, and embrace yourself. Nobody is the bad guy in their own story. First, learn to cook. Second, if someone won't give you their time, they probably aren’t worth yours. Life will always have struggles. What defines a person is how they face these struggles. Nothing matters as much as you think it does. Don’t sweat the small stuff. Learning doesn't end when school does, stay curious. Keep yourself in shape, limit sugar and junk food, eat healthy. Learn to save a bit of your paycheck no matter how much you make now and let the magic of compound interest work in your favor. Avoid debt. Do you have some advice you’d like to share with residents of our apartment community in Highwood, IL? Comment below.

Focus on Gratitude in May-image

This month, the Arrive North Shore Blog is all about gratitude. Now that we’ve entered the month of May, it’s a great time to sit back and reflect on the many things that we’re grateful for. Won’t you join us? There are many benefits to being grateful including higher self-esteem, increased mental strength, and a better night’s sleep. If you want to work on being more grateful, start this month with a few easy exercises. These exercises will help you improve your life by becoming a more generous and grateful person. An easy way to become grateful is simply to remember all the things that you have to be grateful for. Keep a gratitude journal and record a few of the good things that happen to you each day. If keeping a journal isn’t your thing, dash off a few notes on a calendar or write a Facebook post about what you are grateful for every couple of days. You could even start your own gratitude blog and share what you’re thankful for with the world. Another great way to express gratitude is by expressing your thanks to the people around you. There are many ways to do this. You could do a favor for a friend, take a neighbor out to dinner, or bake cookies for your co-workers to enjoy. Just make sure that your thanks is personal and heartfelt. You could even send handwritten letters or postcards to the people you want to thank. You could also express your gratitude by volunteering locally. There are plenty of places to volunteer in Highwood, IL. Visit your local food bank, library, and other local organizations for more information on how you can help give back to your community. Participating in community classes, community clean-up, and community sports are other great ways to volunteer in your community and meet new people. We hope that you’ve enjoyed our post! Do you have any gratitude tips for us? Leave us a comment and let us know. Thanks for reading!
